Farm Focus: Spring Cleaning & New Sites
Every year there is one week in April where suddenly everything seems to shift into high gear after the relatively mellow quiet of winter. That week was last week. We are starting to see more folks on the farm, lots of cleaning around the packing shed. Recently all of the harvest carts came out of winter storage for a good washing. There is also a steady hum of activity out in the orchard while our crews work among the trees to thin, prune and fertilize. Everybody is keeping busy with spring cleaning and training new seasonal employees for all the work ahead.
With the change in the season we are starting to get more phone calls and sign-ups as folks start to anticipate our beloved stone fruit. We on the CSA team are keeping busy by preparing to launch new pick up sites around the Bay Area! We wanted to share these wonderful new locations with you in case you have friends and families that might be interested in becoming part of our CSA family. (see next page)
Folks interested in picking up at these sites can join the waiting lists on our website to be notified when they launch. Do you know of a business, school or home that could be a great pick up site for Frog Hollow CSA? Just email firstname.lastname@example.org for info!
New Frog Hollow CSA Sites:
San Leandro: As Kneaded Bakery is a wonderful local bakery in San Leandro that makes some of the most delicious sourdough breads and challah around. We are looking forward to launching a CSA pick up site there next month, as part of their Wholesome Wednesdays, which include fresh baked goods, pantry items, and Full Belly CSA.
Castro Valley: We are also looking forward to starting deliveries at Castro Valley. Our new site host is the sister of a current site host on the peninsula so we’re looking forward to some friendly cross-bay sibling competition.
San Mateo - Baywood Park: We are looking forward to delivering to the lovely Baywood Park area, right between San Mateo and Belmont.
